A Prayer of Bl. Alphonse Marie to the Heart of Jesus

Jesus, give the grace to keep my heart pure throughout my life,
so I can serve you in purity.

It is not only in name that I want to remain a virgin;

my heart, too, shall be adorned with those virtues that you expect of a virgin.
My Divine Spouse,
I drive my heart into yours.
Take it and give me yours.
Yet, I live, no longer I, but only in God.

I offer myself every day only to God.

In every moment I offer my body, will, heart,

and my desires only to Him. Amen.

It is the month of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. As the followers of Blessed Alphonse Marie, and according to her example, we venerate and deeply experience this devotion.

Let us explore, why Blessed Alphonse Marie venerated the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
In the Original Rule, which she wrote for the new Congregation, we observe an extraordinary devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

How she grew to this devotion? What it meant for her heart? What led, yet a little Elizabeth, to venerate Jesus’ Heart so much that she put it at the very beginning of the Original Rule?

“Order of the Sisters of the Divine Redeemer was founded for the honor of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary… The Order is founded to honor these most holy Hearts, chiefly through imitating them in their charity toward those who suffer in need, which is actually the most beautiful way of honoring them.”
