Litany

Litany to Blessed Alphonse Marie

Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.
Christ, have mercy. Christ, have mercy.
Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.
God the Father of heaven, have mercy on us.
God the Son, Redeemer of the world,
God the Holy Spirit,
Holy Trinity, one God,

Holy Mary, pray for us.
Blessed Alphonse Marie,
Lover of the presence of God,
You who lived deeply your mystical union with Jesus,
You who radiated the fruits of the Holy Spirit,
Faithful apostle of the Gospel,
Spiritual mother of priests,
You who always sought the will of God,
Instrument of God’s mercy,
Child of the Church,
You who were resolved to share in the sufferings of Jesus,
Witness of authentic Christian love,
You who were firmly determined to avoid sin,
You who recognised Jesus in every poor and needy human being,
You who burned to save immortal souls,
You who prayed unceasingly for the parish,
Lover of simplicity,
Lover of humiliations,
You who acknowledged your own poverty and wretchedness,
You who asked for the grace of constancy and perseverance in doing good,
You who helped the weak and the poor, who are the body of Christ,
You who cared that the life of every person might be an invitation to others to believe,

Jesus, our Redeemer, through the intercession of Blessed Alphonse Marie
– have mercy on the dying, we beseech you, hear us!
– protect the poor and those who suffer in body and in spirit,
– care for the sick and for innocent children,
– be merciful to all sinners,

Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world,
spare us, O Lord.
Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world,
graciously hear us, O Lord.
Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world,
have mercy on us, O Lord.

Pray for us, Blessed Alphonse Marie,
that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

LET US PRAY
O God, rich in mercy, you gave Blessed Alphonse Marie the strength to share in the work of the Redemption through her service to those who suffer. Through her intercession help us to be transformed by the love of Christ the Redeemer and to be his witnesses before all people. Who is God, and lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, for ever and ever. Amen.
